 Signature Lectures:



 The largest online newspaper archive with over 9,100 newspapers from the 1700's - 2000's. Elizabeth Bell & Carl Carter from will present on "How to Navigate". Learn valuable tools, tips & tricks on how to narrow your searches and find missing links to your past.


Bobbie Jo Buel:

Brothers, cousins and best friends were among the 1,177 sailors and Marines killed 76 years ago when the U.S.S. Arizona exploded and sank in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Bobbie Jo Buel describes her quest to profile each man who did not survive that perilous day. Their personal stories are a mirror of America in the Great Depression. Bobbie Jo Buel is a retired editor of the Arizona Daily Star. Her husband, David Carter, designed the U.S.S. Arizona memorial on the mall at the University of Arizona. Her research tactics, amazing discoveries, and the people she met along the way is a presentation you will not want to miss!


David Leighton:

Arizona Daily Star "Street Smarts" contributor, and local historian, shares stories behind the history of the street names of Tucson. David is also the  author of "The History of the Hughes Missile Plant in Tucson, 1947-1960."

Jan Cleere:

 Arizona Daily Star contributor, author, historian and expert speaker will discuss research methods that can be used for genealogy projects, a family history, or to delve into the lives of early Arizona pioneers. Currently researching the stories of women who came west in the 1800s to live on early army posts, she has used many research materials such as old diaries, journals, newspapers, ancestral archives, websites, even military collections. 


William Ascarza:

Arizona Daily Star "Mine Tales" contributor, entrepreneur, historian, researcher and travel guide, will discuss techniques used in his history research in mining history. Learn how to "mine" history for data and let Will take you on a tour through the museum's mine.


Arizona Historical Society:

Discussion on the use of the Archives and tours of the stacks will be offered in the Library.


DNA Workshops:
